UP Cadre IAS officer, Narendra Bhooshan takes charge as Secretary MoEFCC

New Delhi, Oct 1 (UNI) Narendra Bhooshan, a 1992-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has assumed charge as Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India, said officials on Thursday.
He is replacing Tanmay Kumar, an IAS officer of the 1993 batch from the Rajasthan cadre, who presided over the position for nearly two years — from 19 October 2024 to 30 September 2026.
An engineer by training, Bhooshan brings with him over three decades of administrative experience across the Central and state governments, with exposure to energy, infrastructure, industry, agriculture, urban development, finance and land-resource management.
His appointment as Secretary, MoEFCC followed his tenure as Secretary, Department of Land Resources, Ministry of Rural Development.
During his career in the Uttar Pradesh cadre, Bhooshan held several senior assignments, including Additional Chief Secretary, Energy, Technical Education and Panchyati Raj. Earlier, he served as Principal Secretary in Power Works and Department (PWD), Infrastructure and Industries Development, I.T. and Electronics, Science and Technology, and Panchayati Raj.
He also served as Chief Executive Officer, Greater Noida Authority, besides holding other important charges. Bhooshan carries substantial field experience, having served as the District Magistrate of Mathura, Firozabad, and Udham Singh Nagar.
At the Government of India level, he spearheaded critical missions and served as Deputy Director General, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), and Mission Director, National Food Security Management.
He was also appointed as Officer on Special Duty in the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and as Joint Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation.

Darjeeling’s ‘Sisne Paha’ frog shows extremely low genetic diversity: Study

Varanasi, Oct 1 (UNI) Research by scientists from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and Calcutta University has found extremely low genetic diversity in the Marbled Cascade Frog (Amolops marmoratus), known locally as 'Sisne Paha' or 'Sisne Pa', found in the Darjeeling and Kalimpong regions. Scientists have cited this as a serious conservation concern and urged the need to protect its population.

Himachal CM announces higher milk, apple procurement prices to boost rural economy
