Samour Baba Dham turns into model for tourism in UP

Lucknow, May 24 (UNI) Due to its exceptional cleanliness, operation, maintenance, management, and tourist appeal, Samour Baba Dham, located in Karhara village of Firozabad district, has emerged as a model for tourism development across Uttar Pradesh.
Due to the tireless efforts of the state government, there has also been a significant increase in the number of tourists visiting the site. This development model will now be replicated at other prominent sites in the state, including the Nath Corridor in Bareilly and the origin point of the Gomti River in Pilibhit. The Regional tourism officers have been directed to visit Samour Baba Dham.
Karhara village is situated about 3 km from the Pegu route in Sirsaganj. It is believed that divine and miraculous idols of Lord Shiva manifested themselves here centuries ago.
Numerous stories and legends are associated with the miraculous powers of Riddhi-Siddhi at the site. Since ancient times, major fairs have been held here during Mohar Chhath and Holi. Newlywed couples also visit the site during the fair to immerse the ceremonial wedding headgear (mohar) and seek blessings for a long and prosperous life.
The continuous flow of Ganga water (brought through a canal) into the site's sacred pond has been revived, keeping the water clean at all times. The steps leading to the pond and gazebos on either side enhance the beauty of the premises.
The pond also features a musical fountain and boating facility. The entire complex has been developed in a well-planned manner. Main gates have been constructed to provide entry from
both the main road and the village side.
Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said that the site's operations and maintenance are of high standard.
"The department is working towards replicating this model at other tourism destinations in the state. Accordingly, departmental officials are being sent to visit Samour Baba Dham. As part of this initiative, Deputy Director of Tourism for Bareilly and Moradabad Divisions, Brajpal Singh, recently visited the site," he said.
He said that the key developments at the site include the construction of two grand entrance gates,
a satsang hall, accessible restrooms, shops, approach roads, stone benches, stone dustbins, red stone flooring in the temple complex, a park/children's playground, strengthening of the sacred kund and the construction of two gazebos.
