Family of 4 killed in house wall collapse after heavy rainfall in Uttarkashi

Dehradun, June 20 (UNI) A couple and their two young children were killed due to the collapse of a wall of their house after heavy rainfall in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand on Friday morning.

State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Commandant Arpan Yaduvanshi said a rescue team led by Sub-Inspector Deepak Kuniyal was dispatched to the scene after receiving information that some people were buried under the debris after a house collapsed in the Mora village.

The rescue team reached the village, which is about a kilometre away from the main road, and conducted a search operation. It was found that the incident occurred during the night, and four members of a family died after being buried under the debris of the collapsed wall.

The deceased have been identified as Ghulam Hussain (26), his wife Rukma Khatoon (23), son Aabid (3), and daughter Salma (10 months old). All the bodies have been recovered from the debris.
