AP: 4 people, including 3 children, drowned in irrigation tank

Kadapa, Apr 26 (UNI) In a tragic incident, four people, including three children, were drowned in an irrigation tank at Patha Mulakala Cheruvu village of Mulakala Cheruvu mandal of Annamayya district in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday.

Police said that a woman, Eeshwaramma, went to the irrigation tank to wash clothes. Her daughter Lavanya and son Nanda Kishore went to the tank with her. Sometime later, their neighbor Nandita also went to the tank.

Three children Lavanya (12), Nandita (11) and Nanda Kishore entered the tank for a bath. They slipped and started drowning. The husband of Easwaramma, Mallesh (36) went to their rescue but he was also drowned. The four bodies were fished out from the tank.

Eeshwaramma, who lost her husband, son and daughter, was seen grieving inconsolably. A pall of gloom descended on Patha Mulakala Cheruvu village with the death of four people. The police registered a case and shifted the bodies to the GGH for postmortem.
