AP CM, Dy CM launch Rs 11,085 cr worth development works

Nellore, Sep 29 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, along with Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan, on Tuesday launched rural development works worth Rs 11,085 crore under ‘Palle Panduga 3.0’ at Ramapuram village in Varikuntapadu mandal here.

Later addressing a public meeting, the Chief Minister explained that as part of the rural development initiative, ‘Gram Sabhas’ were organised simultaneously in all 13,326 villages across the State to launch development programmes.
After a gap of 25 years, promotions had been granted to 10,000 employees working in various positions in the Panchayat Raj system, he highlighted, stating that the government has also released Rs 4,136 crore funds under the 15th Finance Commission.

The Chief Minister said the Panchayat Raj Department, under Dy CM Pawan Kalyan's leadership, has received 13 national awards and that was a matter of pride to the State.
With the impact of El Nino continuing, the government was taking measures to address drinking water shortages and protect horticultural crops, the Chief Minister added.

The Chief Minister announced allotment of funds for several development works including Rs 85 crore for constitution of Somasila high level canal phase-I, Clearance for Defence Manufacturing Hub uninterrupted power supply for CBG Plant, allotment of funds for Somasila dam safety and maintenance, allotment of funds for Krakaturoo Distributary, completion of Rajavolu Lift Irrigation Scheme to meet drinking water and irrigation requirements in the Vinjamur region, sanction of Rs 100 crore to provide safe drinking water to 189 fluoride-affected villages in the Kanigiri region.

He assured of resolving the drinking water problems of Voletivaripalem, Gudluru and Lingasamudram mandals through Rallapadu Reservoir.
The Chief Minister announced that the government would extend support for the establishment of an Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) at Kanigiri-Ballipalle region.

AP Govt to challenge AP HC verdict on BC reservations in local bodies in SC

Repalle, Oct 1 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu Thursday announced that the government will approach the Supreme Court on the AP High Court’s verdict, dismissing the government’s decision to provide 34 per cent reservations to the BCs in the rural urban bodies and 33.33 per cent reservations in the urban local bodies in the ensuing elections. .
