Revanth Reddy directs preparation of draft BC Protection Act; approves 100 BC hostels

Hyderabad, Sep 12 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday directed BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar to prepare a draft of a BC Protection Act for Telangana, while agreeing to sanction 100 BC college hostels.
The decisions were taken during a meeting with BC association leaders led by R. Krishnaiah at the Chief Minister’s Assembly chamber today.
The leaders sought legislation to protect the most backward castes and nomadic tribes from atrocities, assaults and violence, citing the BC Protection Act enacted in Andhra Pradesh as a model.
