SC, ST, BC, minorities’ welfare top priority: Telangana Dy CM Bhatti

Hyderabad, Sep 15 (UNI) Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday said the Telangana government was giving top priority to the welfare and development of SC, ST, BC and minority communities and would allocate adequate funds for the education sector.
At a review meeting on SC and ST welfare at Praja Bhavan, he said the government’s objective under Indiramma Rajyam was to create a better future for poor and weaker sections.
Bhatti directed officials to provide financial assistance up to Rs 1 lakh under Rajiv Yuva Vikasam in the first phase from November 19 and ensure transparent beneficiary selection in the presence of district Collectors.
He ordered preparation of a 15-day action plan for setting up mechanised centralised kitchens in all SC residential schools, noting that Rs 25 crore had already been allocated for the initiative. Until the kitchens are established, students must continue receiving hygienic and nutritious food, he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister also directed officials to prepare a 10-year database of students who studied in Hyderabad Public School, Ramanthapur Public School and welfare residential institutions and commission a CESS study to assess their educational and socio-economic progress.
He sought an assessment of SC Study Circles and directed officials to improve coaching and outcomes.
He also asked officials to examine industry-oriented courses in the 30 Social Welfare degree colleges and link them with the Skill University where necessary.
Officials informed him that proposals for construction of 26 Ekalavya schools had been submitted to the Centre. Social Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman and senior officials attended the meeting, according to an official statement.
