CURE Bill aims to build future-ready Hyderabad: Sridhar Babu

Hyderabad, Sep 12 (UNI) Telangana IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu on Saturday introduced the Core Urban Region (Integrated Governance) Bill, 2026 in the Assembly on behalf of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, describing it as a major legislative reform aimed at preparing Hyderabad for the next 20 to 30 years.
Sridhar Babu said the CURE region, covering about 2,053 sq km within the Outer Ring Road, would get a coordinated administrative framework to address the city's rapid expansion and growing infrastructure needs. The new law proposes a unified framework for the Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri corporations, with the Core Urban Region governed by an apex council headed by the Chief Minister.
He said the existing 1955 municipal law, with 687 sections, was outdated for a metropolis of around 13 million people. The proposed Act has five parts, 43 chapters, 319 sections and nine schedules, replacing obsolete provisions with a modern legal framework.
