Telangana: Cabinet approves construction of 201 km Regional Ring Road, unveils key policy decisions

Hyderabad, June 23 (UNI) The Telangana Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, on Monday approved the construction of a 201-kilometre stretch of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) from Choutuppal to Sangareddy, marking a significant step toward enhancing infrastructure and connectivity in the state.
Briefing the media tonight after the meeting held at the Secretariat, Minister for Revenue and Information & Public Relations Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced that the government has completed disbursement under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, benefiting farmers across the state.
A total of Rs 9,000 crore has been distributed in just nine days. To mark the successful completion of the programme, a special event will be held in the presence of farmers at the Secretariat at 4 pm on Tuesday.
Responding to allegations by the opposition, the Minister said, “They (BRS) are spreading misinformation that Telangana’s water share is being handed over to Andhra Pradesh. They are trying to impose the Banakacherla project on our government. We will move forward legally and judicially on this issue. We will not give up even a single drop of Godavari water.”
He further stated that the state government will present its arguments to the Centre on the Godavari water issue in the first week of July.
“We have also decided to submit full details of the Kaleshwaram project to the Commission by June 30. Did the previous government’s cabinet even approve Kaleshwaram? That is something we intend to clarify,” he said.
He further said that the Cabinet also approved the appointment of Dr Dattatreyudu Nori as Adviser for Cancer Care and Treatment.
Ponguleti added that issues related to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act would be discussed with the high-power committees formed by both states.
Minister for Sports and Youth Services Vakiti Srihari announced that the Cabinet has also approved a new sports policy. The revised policy includes increased reservations under sports quotas and enhanced financial incentives to support and encourage athletes across the state.
Backwards Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar stated that in line with the Government of India’s Vision 2047, the Telangana government has also prepared a Vision 2047 document aimed at achieving inclusive growth by setting clear development targets.
He said an advisory committee comprising industry and economic experts will be formed to guide the implementation of this vision. Currently, Telangana's economy stands at USD 200 billion, while India’s economy has reached USD 4 trillion.
