Operation Thoofan: 12,627 arrested, 11,717 cases registered in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 28 (UNI) As many as 12,627 people have been arrested and 11,717 cases registered across Kerala so far as part of Operation Thoofan, the state-wide anti-drug campaign launched by the Kerala Police.
In the latest enforcement drive, 43 people were arrested in 40 cases, taking the total number of cases registered under the operation to 11,717.
Police have so far seized 24,381.997 grams of MDMA and 1,571.996 kg of ganja in connection with the operation.

Madras HC closes Rs 4 crore cheating case against Ex-AIADMk Minister , says no prima facie evidence citing police report

Chennai, Oct 1 (UNI) The Madras High Court on Thursday closed a petition seeking registration of a case against former AIADMK Minister C Vijayabaskar, now with the ruling TVK, over an alleged Rs.4-crore cheating fraud, after the police submitted there was no prima facie basis for the complaint.

AP Govt to challenge AP HC verdict on BC reservations in local bodies in SC

Repalle, Oct 1 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu Thursday announced that the government will approach the Supreme Court on the AP High Court’s verdict, dismissing the government’s decision to provide 34 per cent reservations to the BCs in the rural urban bodies and 33.33 per cent reservations in the urban local bodies in the ensuing elections. .
