Manager and supervisor held in woman tourist death case at Wayanad

Wayanad, May 16 (UNI) Meppadi police arrested two persons on Friday, including the manager and supervisor of a resort , in connection with the death of a woman tourist and the injuring of three others for allegedly violating safety rules in managing the tourist facility.
A woman tourist, Nishma (24), of Akampadam near Nilambur killed, and three others sustained injuries when a temporarily constructed tent collapsed due to heavy rains at a resort, 900 Ventures, owned by Emerald Tentgram at 900 Kandi, on Thursday.
Police arrested K P Swachand (28), manager of the resort, and K K Anurag (26), supervisor of the resort, and registered cases under section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Both of them were produced before the JFCM court and sent for 14 days for judicial custody.
A 14-member group from Malappuram and Kozhikode reached the resort on May 14, and they occupied four tents for resting in the night. Heavy rains lashed out on the last day of the summer season, and reportedly one of the tents collapsed over the occupants around 0130 AM on Thursday.
The structure was part of a temporary setup inside the resort, and heavy wooden logs fell over the head of Nishma, and she died on the spot, and three women sustained minor injuries.
