Kerala: No fresh cases, Nipah Virus under control in Malappuram

Malappuram, May 16 (UNI) No fresh case of Nipah Virus was reported in Kerala's Malappuram district on Friday, with officials saying the situation was under control.
So far,166 people have been identified as contacts of Nipah Virus patients and are under observation.
A Health Department press release said here that all 67 samples tested during the day have returned negative results.
Meanwhile, the confirmed Nipah-infected woman patient remains in the ICU at the EMS Cooperative Hospital, Perinthalmanna. One patient each is undergoing treatment in isolation wards at the Government Medical College hospital, Manjeri and the Medical College hospital at Ernakulam.
Among the identified contacts, 65 people have been classified as high risk and 101 as low risk. Prophylactic treatment is being administered to 11 people. Home visits as part of the Health Department fever survey have been completed.
Of the 15 tele calls received by the Nipah call centre, psychological support was provided to seven people. UNI AK SSP
