Sri Ram Sena activists tied to tree, thrashed

Belagavi, June 30 (UNI) A shocking incident has emerged from Ingali village in the Hukkeri taluk of Karnataka’s Belagavi district, where five members of the Sriram Sena (SRS) were allegedly tied to a tree and brutally assaulted. A video of the incident went viral on social media, sparking outrage and political uproar across the state.
According to reports, the incident occurred when Sriram Sena activists intercepted individuals transporting cows from a local cowshed and questioned them, suspecting the cattle were being taken for slaughter. However, it was later reported that the cows were being transported for animal husbandry purposes.
Angered by the intervention, the cattle owners allegedly got into a heated argument with the Sena workers, which escalated into violence. The cattle owners reportedly tied all five Sriram Sena activists to a tree and thrashed them with sticks.
Reacting to the incident, Sriram Sena’s Belagavi district president Vitthal Gaddi lashed out at the state government. He stated, "This is no longer Siddaramaiah’s government; it has become a 'Khan government'. If we go to the police, they threaten us instead of protecting us. Strict legal action must be taken against those involved in this attack. If not, we will launch a statewide agitation."
Surprisingly, none of the injured Sena workers have filed a formal police complaint so far. Despite this, Yamkanmardi police have registered a case after taking suo motu cognizance of the viral video.
Following the video's circulation, Hindu organizations have condemned the incident, calling it an example of religious intolerance, and demanded swift justice.
Meanwhile, police continue to investigate the matter, and additional forces have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order.
