ACB issues fresh summons to KTR in Formula E race case

Hyderabad, June 13 (UNI) The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has issued fresh notices to BRS Working President and former Minister K T Rama Rao (KTR), asking him to appear for questioning on Monday at 1000 hours in connection with the Formula E Race corruption case.

KTR was earlier summoned on May 28, but did not appear, citing his foreign tour in the United States. He informed the ACB that he would be available after returning, and the bureau has now sent a second notice.

The Formula E race, held in Hyderabad during the previous BRS regime, has come under scrutiny for alleged misuse of Rs 55 crore in public funds. KTR has been named as Accused No. 1 (A1) in the case, with IAS officer Arvind Kumar (A2) and former HMDA Chief Engineer BLN Reddy (A3) also named in the FIR.

KTR had earlier appeared before the ACB in January, where he was questioned for nearly seven hours. Other key officials, including Arvind Kumar and BLN Reddy, were also interrogated.

The ACB is now set to resume its investigation, seeking further clarification from KTR regarding the financial and administrative decisions related to the international race event.

Responding to the ACB summons, KTR took to X (formerly Twitter) and criticised the Congress-led state government, alleging a political vendetta.

He accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of trying to divert public attention from governance failures by resorting to "petty antics" and "dramas." KTR asserted that the Rs 44 crore sent by the previous BRS government for the Formula-E race remains in the account of the organising company, and questioned why the present government failed to retrieve it.

Reiterating his willingness to cooperate with the law, KTR said he would appear before the ACB at 1000 hours on Monday. He further challenged the Chief Minister to undergo a lie detector test on live television in the presence of a judge, referring to the still-pending Note-for-Vote scam.

KTR urged the Chief Minister to stop wasting public money on what he termed "politically motivated investigations" and instead prove his integrity before the people of Telangana.
