Telangana ACB arrests two Mineabad Municipality officials in Rs 75k bribery case

Hyderabad, Sept 30 (UNI) The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested a Town Planning Officer and a Senior Assistant of Moinabad Municipality for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 75,000 to refrain from taking action against an allegedly illegal construction.
According to an ACB press release, Town Planning Officer Gundu Vani was caught by ACB officials of City Range-II while allegedly accepting the bribe through Senior Assistant Yelamoni Sudarshan , a former panchayat secretary of Moinabad Gram Panchayat who is currently working on deputation at the municipality.
The bribe was allegedly sought in exchange for not initiating action against the complainant’s construction, which the officials considered illegal.
The ACB said the bribe amount was recovered from Sudarshan at Vani’s instance.
The two accused allegedly abused their official positions to obtain undue advantage.
They were being produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases for judicial remand, the release added.
The case is under investigation.
