ISB to support student entrepreneurs

Hyderabad, Oct 16 (UNI) The Indian School of Business (ISB) on Friday announced the launch of ‘PGP Class of 2015 Startup Fellowship’ to provide annual financial support to student entrepreneurs pursuing early-stage ventures through its ISPROUTE pre-incubation programme.
The fellowship will be funded through the PGP Class of 2015 Hyderabad cohort Startup Endowment Fund, with ISB contributing additional funds to ensure sustained annual support.
It will provide a grant to an eligible student or student-led team from the ongoing Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) class to develop and advance an entrepreneurial venture, the School said in a release.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the fellowship was exchanged between ISB Dean Professor Madan Pillutla and representatives of the Hyderabad cohort of the PGP Class of 2015.
DNV Kumara Guru, Senior Director – Advancement, Alumni Engagement and External Relations, ISB, and Saumya Kumar, Director, ISB I-Venture, were present.
Professor Pillutla said the initiative reflected the strength of ISB’s alumni network and its commitment to supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs.
The fellowship would enable student founders to pursue promising ideas and advance their ventures through early-stage financial support and the institution’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, he said.
Anchana C, representing the PGP Class of 2015, said the initiative was an effort by alumni to pass on the confidence and opportunities they had gained at ISB to future entrepreneurs. The endowment would support one student entrepreneur every year in taking the initial steps towards building a venture, she added.
