Kakinada, Oct 23 (UNI) Against the backdrop of the ongoing local body elections, Superintendent of Police (SP) G. Bindu Madhav on Friday inspected security arrangements at nomination centers across the district, reviewing bandobast measures to ensure a smooth and peaceful filing process.
The SP visited key centers, including the Karapa Mandal Praja Parishad and the Kakinada Zilla Parishad, where he assessed on-ground deployments alongside senior police officers. Addressing personnel at the venues, SP Bindu Madhav directed them to strictly enforce guidelines established by the State Election Commission (SEC) and maintain tight vigil against any potential disruptions.
Issuing a stern warning to political parties, candidates, and their supporters, the SP cautioned against taking out rallies or processions near nomination facilities.
He stated that bringing unauthorized convoys or vehicles near centers would not be permitted, warning that any disruption to public movement or traffic would result in immediate legal action.
The district police chief also emphasized zero tolerance for electoral malpractice, clarifying that attempts to influence voters through bribery, inducements, or coercion would be dealt with severely.
He reiterated that vehicle access and the number of individuals allowed inside nomination centers would remain strictly capped in accordance with SEC protocols, with cases registered against violators under relevant election laws.
District Special Branch DSP K.V.V. Satyanarayana and Kakinada Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) N.S.V.K. Durgarao accompanied the SP during the review.
