Alai Balai Cultural Event to Be Held in Hyderabad on October 22

Hyderabad, October 17 (UNI) The annual Alai Balai cultural event, aimed at promoting Telangana’s cultural heritage and social harmony, will be held at the Nampally Exhibition Grounds here on October 22, Alai Balai Foundation Chairperson Bandaru Vijayalakshmi announced on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference along with former Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, she said the annual Dasara get-together would bring together political leaders cutting across party lines, public representatives and citizens.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and other political leaders are expected to attend the event, she said.
Initiated by Dattatreya in 2005, Alai Balai celebrates Telangana’s cultural traditions through folk performances such as Bathukamma, Bonalu, Dappu, Gussadi and Kolatam. Traditional Telangana cuisine will also be showcased, while achievers will be felicitated on the occasion, Vijayalakshmi added.
Dattatreya said Alai Balai was a non-political social and cultural initiative that brought together leaders from different political parties and people from various walks of life.
Recalling its origins during the Telangana movement, he said the initiative was launched to promote harmony among political leaders and foster social unity.
