HCL cyclothon Hyderabad to be held on Nov 15 with Rs 33.6 lakh prize purse

Hyderabad, Sept 18 (UNI) The 2026 edition of HCL Cyclothon Hyderabad will be held on November 15, with a total prize purse of Rs 33.6 lakh, HCL Group announced on Friday.
Held under the aegis of the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), in association with the Sports Authority of Telangana and the Telangana government, the event will feature professional and amateur cyclists across four categories.
The categories include the Professional Elite Road Race, Amateur Road Race, Amateur MTB Race and Green Ride. Registrations for the event are open until October 31.
The Professional Elite Road Race will cover 54.6 km in a criterium format, while the Amateur Road Race will offer 54.6 km and 23.4 km distances.
The Amateur MTB Race will cover 22.4 km.
The 10-km Green Ride, a non-competitive category, will be timed for the first time this year, allowing participants to record their completion time while retaining its recreational and inclusive format.
The total prize purse of Rs 33.6 lakh includes Rs 15 lakh for the Professional Elite Road Race, Rs 12.6 lakh for the Amateur Road Race and Rs 6 lakh for the Amateur MTB Race.
The Professional Elite Road Race will be open to cyclists aged 18-40 years, with participation facilitated through the CFI.
The Amateur Road Race and Amateur MTB Race will have age categories of 18-30, 30-40, 40-50 and 50-plus years.
Telangana Special Chief Secretary, Jayesh Ranjan said the state to support the 2026 edition of the HCL Cyclothon and that the event would help promote fitness, community participation and an active lifestyle.
HCL Group Head of Brand and Marketing Nikhil Soni said the event would provide cyclists across experience levels a platform to challenge themselves and engage with the sport.
Specific bicycle requirements will apply to the competitive categories.
The Amateur Road Race will permit road, gravel and hybrid bicycles subject to category-specific specifications, while the Amateur MTB Race will be restricted to bicycles meeting the prescribed MTB requirements.
The Green Ride is open to all bicycle types.
Participants' completion times will be recorded, but the category will remain non-competitive, with no rankings or prizes, Nikhil Soni added.
