63 million Indians face hearing loss, timely care remains a challenge

Bengaluru, Oct 9 (UNI) An estimated 63 million Indians experience some degree of hearing loss. Yet, low awareness, social stigma and limited access to quality hearing assessments continue to delay timely diagnosis and treatment.
Many people still consider hearing loss a natural part of ageing. Others ignore the early signs or hesitate to seek professional help. This delays intervention and can affect communication, confidence, productivity and overall quality of life.
Avinash Pawar, Managing Director and CEO, WSA India, said hearing loss remained an often-overlooked public health concern. He stressed the need to improve awareness and make quality hearing care more accessible.
