Centre sanctions 2 lakh rural houses for Telangana under PMAY

Hyderabad, Sep 18 (UNI) The Centre has sanctioned two lakh houses for rural Telangana under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar said on Friday.
In a statement, while welcoming the announcement by union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Mr Sanjay Kumar thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mr Chouhan for the sanction. He said the Centre had already sanctioned 1.13 lakh houses for the urban poor in Telangana.
He said the latest sanction was part of the Centre's initiative to provide houses to all eligible homeless poor in the state. He urged the Telangana government to ensure that the houses were constructed and allotted only to eligible beneficiaries and not to Congress workers or their followers.
Mr Sanjay Kumar alleged that the previous BRS government had denied housing to the poor and diverted funds sanctioned by the Centre. He claimed that despite his request to the then government to submit proposals, including for up to 10 lakh houses, no proposals were sent as the BRS government was reluctant to allow the BJP and Prime Minister Modi to take credit.
