Faster approvals, easier business is our motto: Andhra Minister Bharath

Kochi, Sep 30 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh is focusing on faster approvals, simplified procedures and close monitoring of projects to create a more investor-friendly environment and ensure that companies do not lose time waiting for clearances, Andhra Pradesh Industries and Commerce Minister T G Bharath has said.
Addressing the India Today Conclave – South 2026, Bharath said the state had introduced virtual meetings of investment promotion bodies and the Cabinet to expedite decisions on projects requiring urgent clearance.
He said the mechanism could be particularly useful when companies were simultaneously considering investment destinations in other states or countries.
Once a detailed project report is prepared and completes the required scrutiny, the approval process can be completed quickly, he said, adding that the government was also monitoring projects after approval to ensure that investments move from the announcement stage to actual implementation.
Officials and senior government representatives are part of monitoring groups that regularly review the progress of approved projects, Bharath said. Any delay is flagged and followed up with the concerned department to facilitate timely execution.
Explaining the state's policy of providing land at nominal prices to certain large companies, he said eligible companies were required to enter into a sale agreement and fulfil their investment and employment commitments before the land was converted into a sale deed.
If a company failed to meet the stipulated commitments within the prescribed period, the government could cancel the agreement, he said, adding that the policy was thus linked to actual investment and employment generation rather than being an unconditional transfer of land.
Bharath said Andhra Pradesh was adopting a cluster-based approach to industrial development, with focus on sectors including solar manufacturing, drones, automobiles, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and toys.
The state was also planning MSME parks across constituencies to encourage smaller businesses and strengthen local industrial activity, he said.
The government was working with industries to identify their skill requirements and link them with nearby colleges and educational institutions so that local students could acquire skills matching the requirements of companies setting up in their areas, Bharath said.
For startups, the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub was being developed as a support system to provide hand-holding from the project planning stage until the business becomes operational, he said.
Bharath said the government was also working on an escrow-based system for incentives to reduce manual intervention. Project clearances and files were being monitored digitally to identify delays and ensure follow-up, he added.
Asked why investors should choose Andhra Pradesh, Bharath cited the credibility of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his record in developing Hyderabad, saying this, along with the state's policies, incentives, proposed escrow mechanism and emphasis on faster approvals, would help attract investment to the state.
The state was also expanding broadband connectivity to villages, which could support people seeking to work or operate businesses from smaller towns and rural areas, he said.
