Bengaluru, July 30 (UNI) Karnataka has installed and commissioned more than 27,700 solar-powered agricultural pump sets under its solarisation programme, with the state government claiming the initiative will save over ₹200 crore annually by reducing electricity subsidy and power purchase costs.
According to an official release issued on Thursday, more than one lakh farmers have applied for solar agricultural pump sets, while the programme has reduced grid demand by nearly 144 MW and is expected to eliminate the purchase of around 240 million units of electricity every year.
