FIR against CPM leader over tampering of postal votes

Alappuzha (Kerala), May 17 (UNI) An FIR has been registered against senior CPI(M) leader and former Kerala PWD Minister G. Sudhakaran who revealed that his party made manipulations in the postal votes during the 1989 Lok Sabha polls in Alappuzha in Kerala.

The alleged incident pertains to the 1989 Lok Sabha election from the Alappuzha constituency, where malpractice in postal voting was reportedly carried out.

The FIR has been registered at the Alappuzha South Police Station on May 16, according to the District Election Officer, Alappuzha.

The matter has also been reported to the Election Commission of India.

The chief electoral officer, Kerala, has directed the district election officer, Alappuzha, to keep this office informed of the progress of the case on a regular basis.
