Prabhakar directs officials to expedite city development works in Hyd

Hyderabad, May 17 (UNI) Telangana BC Welfare and Transport Minister and Hyderabad District In-charge Ponnam Prabhakar has directed officials to fast-track land acquisition and ongoing development works in Hyderabad.
During a review meeting held at the GHMC headquarters on Saturday evening, the Minister assessed progress on key infrastructure initiatives, including roads, flyovers, flood prevention, sanitation, street lighting, and solid waste management.
The Minister emphasised the need to complete incomplete SRDP works on a war footing. Specific instructions were given to finish the Falaknuma ROB by July and the Shastripuram ROB by August.
Officials were also directed to address water stagnation points ahead of the monsoon and deploy mobile static emergency teams across internal and main roads to avoid public inconvenience.
In light of the city's expansion, the Minister stressed on improving sanitation in new colonies and appointing additional workers where needed. Addressing the overburdened Jawaharnagar dump yard, he said land acquisition is underway for an alternative site, and the government will provide full support.
Further, he instructed immediate dredging work and warned of strict action against negligence in garbage clearance and streetlight maintenance. The Minister also called for the beautification of city areas, including slums, and for fast-tracking the construction of flyovers and underpasses in high-traffic zones.
Highlighting that 30 per cent of Telangana’s population resides in Hyderabad, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to resolving civic issues and ensuring a comfortable life for all citizens, an official statement said.
