Union Minister Joshi slams Karnataka govt over poor infra, unpaid salaries

New Delhi, May 20 (UNI) Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Tuesday blamed the Congress government in Karnataka for the deaths of people in Bengaluru caused by rains and potholes, and sharply criticised the state administration for its failure to maintain basic infrastructure and civic amenities.
Speaking to reporters, Joshi questioned the rationale behind the state government’s celebrations on the occasion of completing two years in power in Karnataka. "People have died in Bengaluru due to rains and potholes. What exactly are you celebrating?" he asked.
Joshi accused the Congress government of widespread corruption, citing major scams such as MUDA, Valmiki, and irregularities in the labour department.
Hitting out at the Congress government, he said it lacks funds even to fill potholes and is not undertaking any meaningful development work.
Highlighting the neglect of essential services, Joshi pointed out that the government has failed to pay Rs 300 crore in salaries to sanitation workers in Hubballi, his parliamentary constituency.
"These pourakarmikas have not been paid for the last two years. This is not a large sum, yet the government is unable to release it," he said.
He concluded by stating that the situation in Karnataka is worsening due to the government’s inability to handle administrative responsibilities effectively.
