We the Leaders Movement to honour 12 Unsung Women Achievers with Kamaraj award

Chennai, Sep 29 (UNI) The "We the Leaders" Movement founded by former BJP Tamil Nadu President K.Annamalai would honour
12 women whose work has created meaningful and lasting impact in society.
with Kamaraj awards on October two.
In a release here today, Movement General Secretary (Media, Campaigns and PR) Aspire K.Swaminathan said as part of its observance of October 2026 as Women Empowerment Month, We The Leaders will organise the award event in the city and it would be presided over by Annamalai.
The central idea behind the award is simple but significant: to bring public recognition to women whose contributions have transformed lives, strengthened communities and inspired others, but whose work may not always have received the visibility it deserves.
Stating that countless women across the state continue to make a difference in education, agriculture, community development, social service and several other fields, often working quietly and away from public attention, he said the award seeks to identify such women, bring their stories before a wider audience and recognise the values of perseverance, service, leadership and social responsibility that their journeys represent.
This year, around 12 outstanding women from different parts of Tamil Nadu and from diverse spheres of activity have been chosen for the awards. Each awardee has distinguished herself through sustained effort, personal commitment and meaningful contribution in her respective field.
The award has been instituted in the name of former CM and Congress stalwart Perunthalaivar K.Kamaraj, whose public life continues
to be remembered for simplicity, integrity, commitment to education and concern for the welfare of ordinary people.
Through this recognition, We The Leaders seeks to celebrate women who continue to reflect these values through their work and service. The Kamaraj Award is intended to be much more than a ceremonial felicitation. Many extraordinary women across Tamil Nadu are creating change without seeking publicity or recognition. Their stories deserve to be heard.
By honouring them, the initiative seeks not only to recognise what they have already achieved, but also to present inspiring role models to the next generation of young women.
