Telangana: TG SAFE seizes 6,368 Tramadol capsules from medical shop in Tellapur

Hyderabad, Oct 1 (UNI) The TG SAFE–Drugs Wing seized 6,368 Pyeevon Spas Plus capsules containing Tramadol, a habit-forming prescription drug, during a raid on a medical shop at Tellapur village in Ramchandrapuram mandal of Sangareddy district.
Acting on credible information, officials raided Sri Ganesh Medical and General Stores and found the capsules being stocked without purchase bills and sold without issuing sale bills, in violation of the Drugs Rules, 1945.
The seized capsules, bearing Batch No. QYECL022, were valued at Rs 58,904. Tramadol is an opioid analgesic classified as a Schedule H1 drug and can be sold only against a valid prescription from a registered medical practitioner.
The raid was conducted by Assistant Director P. Ramu, Drugs Inspector M. Chandrasekhar and Drugs Inspector N. Ravikiran Reddy. Further investigation will be carried out and action taken against the offenders as per law.
The TG SAFE–Drugs Wing warned medical shops against the illegal sale or diversion of habit-forming and prescription medicines. Illegal diversion of such drugs is punishable under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act with imprisonment of up to two years, a TG SAFE statement said.
