AP: Cong leaders hold protest demonstration, submit representation to SEC

Vijayawada, Sep 28 (UNI) A large number of Congress activists led by their leaders held a protest demonstration demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and submitted a representation to the State Election Commissioner here on Monday.
The Congress party activists led by APCC Vice-president Kolanukonda Shivaji and former union Minister and APCC Working president JD Seelam held a protest demonstration holding placards, party flags and raised slogans denouncing the BJP and demanding the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar, at the IG stadium. Later the Congress activists burnt the effigy of the CEC.
Speaking on the occasion, Congress leaders emphasized that transparency and accountability should be maintained in the electoral rolls. They demanded that the file notings, minutes and Action Taken Reports relating to the 14 objections reportedly recorded at the level of Election Commissioners be made public.

AP Govt to challenge AP HC verdict on BC reservations in local bodies in SC

Repalle, Oct 1 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu Thursday announced that the government will approach the Supreme Court on the AP High Court’s verdict, dismissing the government’s decision to provide 34 per cent reservations to the BCs in the rural urban bodies and 33.33 per cent reservations in the urban local bodies in the ensuing elections. .
