Bengaluru, May 26 (UNI) BJP Rajya Sabha MP Lahar Singh Siroya on Monday lashed out at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for skipping the recent NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting, alleging that the Congress government has prioritised personal engagements over critical national forums.
In a strongly-worded statement, Siroya claimed that Siddaramaiah gave the meeting a miss to attend functions in his home district Mysuru. "What was more important?" he questioned, stating that not only did the CM abstain, but the Congress government also failed to send any representative.
"This is a new guarantee that the Congress government has offered — NO SHOW guarantee!!" Siroya remarked, taking a swipe at the Congress party's welfare schemes branded as guarantees. He accused the government of being absent not only at national meetings but also in terms of development, investment, and rural progress.
"New scams are out every day," Siroya alleged, adding that controversies surrounding senior Congress leaders had left the government "tired and in need of retirement." He further claimed that in a bid to divert public attention from mounting governance failures, the government had hired an "expensive filmstar-model" to promote Mysore Sandal soap — "entertainment guaranteed," he quipped.
The state government has yet to respond to the MP's charges.
