KPCC chief challenges Bommai to prove foreign funding charges against Rahul

Bengaluru, Nov 4 (UNI) KPCC President BK Hariprasad on Wednesday launched a counteroffensive against BJP MP and former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai over his remarks questioning Rahul Gandhi's foreign connections, challenging him to produce documentary evidence of alleged foreign funding and turning the allegations back on the BJP and the RSS.
In a strongly worded social media post, Hariprasad accused Bommai of making irresponsible allegations against the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and questioned why the BJP was raising doubts about Rahul Gandhi's overseas visits and interactions with foreign dignitaries without producing any evidence.
"Bommai, before expressing suspicions about Rahul Gandhi's foreign connections, release at least one official document publicly to establish your allegation that he has received foreign funds. Meeting foreign leaders is not a crime; making serious allegations against the Leader of the Opposition without evidence is neither responsible politics nor statesmanship," he said.
Defending Rahul Gandhi's overseas engagements, Hariprasad said he travelled abroad to interact with prominent personalities and participate in discussions at some of the world's leading universities.
The Congress leader also questioned the BJP and RSS over their alleged foreign funding links, asking them to explain their sources of funds before questioning the Congress leadership.
Raising questions over the alleged USD 21 million funding from the United States for increasing voter participation in India, Hariprasad referred to claims attributed to the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, that the money had been sent between 2014 and 2025.
"The Central Government has not clarified so far for whose electoral benefit this money was sent. US President Donald Trump also raised this allegation on February 19, 2025. Bommai should remember that Trump is not merely the President of the United States but also a friend of Prime Minister Narendra Modi," he said.
Hariprasad also questioned the BJP over Modi's overseas political engagements ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
"Before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Modi campaigned for himself abroad. If there is any politician in India's history who has campaigned in a foreign country to win an Indian election, it is Narendra Modi. Why did Donald Trump appeal to people to ensure Modi's victory?" he asked.
Referring to Pakistan's former Prime Minister Imran Khan's reported statement in 2019 expressing support for a BJP victory, Hariprasad questioned the political significance of the remarks and Modi's subsequent visit to Pakistan.
He also raised questions over alleged meetings between RSS functionaries and Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI and the repeated visits of RSS leaders to the United States, asking whether these engagements had any connection with India's electoral politics.
In a pointed concluding remark, Hariprasad told Bommai to concentrate on his own constituency rather than targeting the Congress leader.
"Instead of speaking about a personality of Rahul Gandhi's stature, Bommai should concentrate on the Haveri constituency," he said.
All allegations and claims concerning foreign funding, overseas political engagements and alleged RSS-ISI meetings are attributed to Hariprasad.
