Amit Shah terms Rahul Gandhi's Delhi rally ‘Save Infiltrators’ rally, backs SIR

Hyderabad, Nov 2 (UNI) union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday strongly defended the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of misleading people over alleged deletion of voters.
Reacting to the ‘Vote Bachao’ rally organised by the Congress-led INDIA alliance in Delhi, Shah alleged that it was not a campaign to save votes but an attempt to protect infiltrators.
Addressing a public meeting at Moazzam Jahi Market (MJ Market) after participating in the ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ Maha Padayatra in Hyderabad, Shah accused the Congress of opposing the SIR and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) to protect its alleged vote bank.
Referring to Rahul Gandhi's claim that 13 crore votes were being deleted, Shah rejected the allegation and claimed that the figures included voters who had shifted residences, deceased persons, duplicate entries and names of people who did not exist.
He questioned the Congress's opposition to removing such entries from electoral rolls and asserted that only Indian citizens should be allowed to vote.
Targeting Rahul Gandhi, Shah challenged him to explain why the Congress accepted electoral victories in states where it had formed governments if the electronic voting machines (EVMs) were faulty.
He also challenged the Congress leader to participate in a discussion in Parliament on the issues being raised by the Opposition.
Turning his attack on the Congress government in Telangana, Shah alleged that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had turned the State into an ATM for the party's national leadership in Delhi.
He accused the Chief Minister of collecting what he termed ‘RR Tax’ and alleged that the money was being channelled to the Congress leadership.
Questioning the implementation of the six guarantees promised by the Congress, Shah alleged that none of the assurances made by Rahul Gandhi had been fulfilled.
He said the people of Telangana would not forgive the government for its alleged failures and corruption.
Shah also highlighted the achievements of the Narendra Modi government, including the abrogation of Article 370, construction of the Ram temple, abolition of triple talaq and various welfare programmes.
He said the Centre had provided free foodgrains to 81 crore people, health coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh to 50 crore people, tap water connections to 16 crore households and financial assistance to 13 crore farmers under the PM-KISAN scheme.
Calling upon BJP workers to take the party's message to every household, Shah said the party had prepared a document in Telugu highlighting the alleged failures and corruption of the Congress government.
He urged party cadres to distribute it across the State and counter what he described as misinformation by the Congress.
Shah expressed confidence that the BJP would form the next government in Telangana and called upon party workers to strive for a two-thirds majority.
Earlier, Shah participated in the Maha Padayatra titled ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’, organised by the Telangana BJP from the statue of Dr Babu Jagjivan Ram at Bashirbagh to MJ Market, protesting against the Opposition parties' agitation over the SIR of electoral rolls.
Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao, BJP MPs, MLAs, MLCs and a large number of party workers participated in the programme.
