Kishan Reddy accuses Revanth of divisive politics, questions Congress on delimitation

New Delhi/Hyderabad, Oct 1 (UNI) union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy on Thursday criticised Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over his recent remarks on Hindu traditions and alleged that the Congress government was resorting to divisive politics instead of focusing on its election promises.
Addressing a press meet in Delhi, Kishan Reddy alleged that Revanth Reddy was making controversial remarks on Sanatana Dharma and said the Congress had a history of creating divisions based on caste, religion, language and regional identities. He also criticised the Telangana government over the implementation of its 2023 election guarantees.
On the delimitation issue, Kishan Reddy questioned the proposals being put forward by Congress leaders and said the Centre had indicated that the number of Lok Sabha seats in southern states would be increased. He accused the opposition of opposing government initiatives without constructive discussion.
He also defended the electoral roll revision process, rejecting Congress allegations over deletion of voters. He said the revision was aimed at removing ineligible names and improving the accuracy of electoral rolls.
On Yadadri Thermal Power Plant, Kishan Reddy questioned why the project was designed around a grade of coal that was not readily available from Singareni and why it was located away from the coalfields. His remarks came after the State government recently directed officials to arrange G9-grade coal from Mahanadi Coalfields and Coal India to restore full-capacity generation at the plant.
Kishan Reddy also said the BJP would take on the BRS politically in Telangana and criticised BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao over his statements on the party’s prospects.
On the Khairatabad Assembly seat, he welcomed the Supreme Court verdict in the case concerning the MLA and said the BJP was prepared to contest the seat. He also criticised leaders who had switched parties without resigning from their elected positions.
Kishan Reddy said union Home Minister Amit Shah would visit Telangana on October 3 and participate in a programme related to the cooperative sector on October 4. He also said the Centre would organise the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan from October 2 to 31, with government offices participating in cleanliness and related activities.
