Govt will not take even an inch of Dalit, tribal land: Minister Ponguleti

Hyderabad, Sep 20 (UNI) Telangana Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Sunday assured that the Congress government had no intention of taking away the lands of Dalits and tribals and would protect their land rights.
In a statement, he said the government led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy stood as a safeguard for Dalit and tribal lands and urged people not to believe misinformation or propaganda on the issue.
Srinivas Reddy said land surveys, verification of records and re-surveys were being undertaken to establish ownership, resolve long-pending disputes and protect legitimate land rights, and should not be viewed as attempts to acquire land.
He said long-standing land issues had been resolved in 15 revenue villages in Nutanakal and Maddirala areas of Suryapet district and Narayanapuram village in Kesamudram mandal of Mahabubabad district.
The Minister alleged that some political leaders were deliberately spreading misinformation to create fear among Dalits for political gains and urged people to verify facts before believing such claims.
He reiterated that the government's objective was to empower Dalits and tribals by securing their land rights and ensuring access to welfare schemes. UNI VV SAS
