Alert MEMU loco pilot detects rail fracture, averts derailment

Chennai, June 27 (UNI) An alert loco pilot of a MEMU train averted a derailment after
detecting a rail fracture on Friday night.
Southern Railway sources said the Loco pilot of Train no 66057 MEMU between the
Arrakonam -Katpadi detected a rail fracture at Sitheri station Yard Road 1 loop line
which is an Identified maintenance caution spot with speed restriction of 20 kmph.
LP was alert and stopped the train immediately at 21.15 hrs.
No derailment of coaches involved.
Track given fit for train service after one hour duration and the train cleared through
the same track.
All trains in the section are running normally.
