Karnataka DGP Highlights Community Policing, Cybercrime Training and Public Safety Initiatives

Hyderabad, Oct 23 (UNI) Karnataka DGP Dr M A Saleem highlighted the State’s community policing initiatives, cybercrime investigation, drug de-addiction and technology-driven traffic management at the Southern Regional Police Coordination Committee (SRPCC) meeting held at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), Banjara Hills, on Friday.
Saleem said public trust and confidence were essential for effective policing. Under Karnataka’s Mana-Mane Police initiative, police have collected household-level information across the State and provided contact details of the concerned police personnel to enable residents to seek assistance easily. Special protection measures have also been introduced for nearly 55,000 vulnerable households, particularly those occupied by elderly people living alone.
He said police-public meetings were organised on designated Saturdays to address public grievances, traffic-related issues and concerns of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The State was also adopting a victim-centric approach to ensure that crime victims received continued support throughout investigations and legal proceedings.
