Telangana Govt establishes TG-TMARS for Road, Rail Safety

Hyderabad, Sept 24 (UNI) The Telangana government has established the Telangana Traffic Management, Road and Rail Safety Bureau (TG-TMARS) to strengthen scientific traffic management and road and rail safety in the State, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju said on Thursday.
The bureau will function under the State Road Safety Council headed by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Headquartered in Hyderabad, TG-TMARS will function under an officer of the rank of Additional DGP or IGP and oversee traffic management across more than 32,000 km of state roads and the movement of over 1.8 crore vehicles daily. It will also be responsible for Metro Rail and railway safety.
A Road Accident Response Officer will be designated at every police station to ensure accident victims are shifted to hospitals during the golden hour. Highway patrol units equipped with speed detectors and advanced cameras will also operate on the ORR and highways. The government has created a dedicated Traffic Management Fund, with 40 per cent of traffic fine revenue allocated for staff training, technology, patrol vehicles and emergency road repairs.
