Collectors told to remain alert as heavy rains expected across Telangana: Minister Ponguleti

Hyderabad, Sep 23 (UNI) Telangana Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Wednesday directed District Collectors to remain highly vigilant in view of the Meteorological Department's warning of heavy to extremely heavy rains across Telangana over the next two days.
He called for special attention to Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal and Hanamkonda, where a Red Alert has been issued, and asked officials to take proactive relief measures.
The Minister directed Collectors to continuously monitor low-lying areas, streams, tanks and flood-prone zones and evacuate people to safer places wherever necessary. He also ordered the establishment of 24-hour control rooms and toll-free numbers in every district for immediate public assistance.
