Upper air circulation, trough over TN to bring heavy to moderate rain in several dists

Chennai, Oct 6 (UNI) An Upper air circulation over North Tamil Nadu and Trough would bring heavy to moderate rains in several districts of the state for the next 5-6 days.
Met office Tuesday said rainfall occurred at isolated places over Tamil Nadu. Dry weather prevailed over Puducherry and Karaikal area. There was a departure in mercury levels from normal with maximum temperatures recording above normal by 2-4 deg C at many places over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and near normal over Karaikal area.
It said an upper air cyclonic circulation lies over Southeast Arabian Sea off south Kerala coast at 5.8 km above mean sea level. An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over north Tamil Nadu at 5.8 km above mean sea level, while a trough runs from Gulf of Mannar to Madhya Maharashtra across Tamil Nadu, Interior Karnataka at 0.9 km above mean sea level.
Yesterday’s trough runs from Comorin Area to cyclonic circulation over North Interior Karnataka across Tamilnadu and South Interior Karnataka at 0.9 km above mean sea level has become less marked.
Under its influence moderate rain will occur in 19 districts, including the Western Ghat region, tomorrow. It said rain will occur at a few places with thunderstorm and lightning with gusty winds with speed reaching 40-50 kmph at one or two places over Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul, Tenkasi, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Pudukottai, Madurai, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Erode and Salem districts of Tamil Nadu and Karaikal area.
Light rain will occur at a few places with thunderstorm and lightning at one or two places over rest of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
On October 8, heavy rain will occur at isolated places with thunderstorm and lightning with gusty with winds speed reaching 40-50 kmph, at one or two places over Ghat areas of Coimbatore district and The Nilgiris districts of Tamil Nadu, while moderate rain will occur at a few places with thunderstorm and lightning with gusty winds speed with reaching 40-50 kmph over Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul, Tenkasi, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Madurai, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi districts of Tamil Nadu. Light rain at a few places with thunderstorm and lightning at one or two places is likely to occur over rest Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and Karaikal area.

40-50 kmph over Coimbatore, Theni and The Nilgiris districts of Tamil Nadu, while moderate rain will occur at a few places with thunderstorm and lightning with gusty winds with speed reaching 40-50 kmph over Tiruppur, Dindigul, Tenkasi, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Pudukottai, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Tiruvannamalai, Salem, Erode, Namakkal, Karur, Madurai, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi districts of Tamil Nadu and Karaikal area. Light rain will occur at a few places with thunderstorm and lightning at one or two places over rest of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
On October 10, heavy rain will occur at isolated places with thunderstorm and lightning with gusty winds with speed reaching
40-50 kmph over Ghat areas of Coimbatore and Theni districts of Tamil Nadu. Moderate rain at isolated places with thunderstorm and lightning with gusty winds with speed reaching 40-50 kmph at is likely to occur over Erode, Namakkal, Salem, Tiruchirapalli, Karur, Nilgiris, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Tenkasi, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Madurai, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi districts of Tamil Nadu. Light rain is likely to occur at isolated places with thunderstorm & lightning at one or two places over rest of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area.
The Met office said moderate rain is likely to occur at isolated places over South Tamil Nadu, while light rain is likely to occur at isolated places over North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area on October 11 and 12.
The forecast for Chennai city and its neighbourhood is the sky condition would be partly cloudy with light to moderate rains accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning is likely to occur in some areas during evening/night. Though the people of this teeming megapolics have been experiencing intense heat wave conditions during the last few days, the maximum day temperature will be around 35-36 deg C for the next two days.
