Anantjeet-Parinaaz qualify for mixed skeet final, eye second medal

Aichi-Nagoya, Sep 24 (UNI) Indian shooters Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal kept India's skeet medal hopes alive by qualifying for the mixed team final at the Asian Games here on Thursday.
The Indian pair shot a combined 138 out of 150 in qualification to finish fourth and secure the last available berth in the medal round. Qatar topped the qualification with 145, followed by South Korea on 143 and China on 140.
The qualification has given India another medal opportunity in skeet, just a day after the discipline produced two bronze medals for the country in the men's and women's team events.
Naruka, Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Bhavtegh Singh Gill won the men's team bronze after finishing level with Kazakhstan at 346 and prevailing in a shoot-off.
Parinaaz, meanwhile, was part of the women's trio with Raiza Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan that secured bronze with 331 points. It was India's first Asian Games medal in the women's team skeet event.
The mixed-team qualification also gives Naruka and Parinaaz another chance after both missed out on individual medals on Wednesday. Naruka finished fourth in the men's individual final, while Parinaaz was eighth in the women's event.
Naruka had been one of India's leading performers in the men's team event, while Parinaaz played her part in the women's bronze-winning effort.
With both shooters already carrying team bronze medals from the Games, the duo will now seek to add a mixed-team medal and strengthen India's impressive showing in skeet at Aichi-Nagoya.
