Jaipur, Apr 21 (UNI) Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson will not be travelling to Bengaluru for the side's Indian Premier League (IPL) fixture against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 24, the franchise confirmed on Monday.
Samson, who is currently nursing a side strain, will remain in Jaipur under the supervision of the team’s medical staff.
"The team management is monitoring his progress closely and will take a game-by-game approach regarding his return to action," the franchise said in an official statement.
The absence of Samson, a key pillar in Rajasthan's batting lineup and leadership group, is a setback for the side as they prepare to take on a resurgent RCB at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Rajasthan are likely to name a stand-in skipper for the clash, with further updates expected ahead of match day.
