World Boxing Cup Kazakhstan 2025: Jaismine, Pooja lead Indian women’s debut

Asthana, June 29 (UNI) India’s women boxers, led by Olympians Jaismine Lamboria and Pooja Rani, will make their first appearance of the season at the World Boxing Cup Kazakhstan 2025, which starts on Monday.
Having skipped the Brazil leg earlier this year, the Indian women’s boxing team is set to feature for the first time in the ongoing World Boxing Cup series, organised by World Boxing.
The tournament, to be held at the Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov Martial Art Palace, is the second of three scheduled events that help boxers accumulate ranking points throughout the year.
The Kazakhstan leg will run until July 7, with over 400 boxers from 31 countries, including Olympians, competing across 10 weight categories in both men's and women’s divisions. India have sent a 20-member team.
India’s 10-member women’s squad includes Paris 2024 Olympian and Commonwealth Games medallist Jaismine Lamboria, along with Tokyo Olympian and former Asian champion Pooja Rani, adding experience to the line-up.
Meanwhile, the men’s Indian boxing team remains unchanged from the Brazil meet, where they won six medals. Hitesh Gulia, gold medallist in the 70kg category, silver medallist Abhinash Jamwal (65kg) and Asian Games bronze medallist Narender Berwal will headline the charge.
The Brazil leg marked the first of three World Boxing Cups scheduled for this year. The series will conclude with a final event in India this November, where stage winners and top-ranked boxers will compete for the World Boxing Cup title.
