Chennai, Oct 4 (UNI) All India CK Nayudu Trophy U-23 tournament champions Tamil Nadu defeated Rest of India by six wickets on
the last day of the 4-day match at the M.A.Chidambaram stadium here on Sunday.
After being bowled out for a paltry 179 on the opening day and the home team responding strongly scoring 462, the ROI batters put up
a better show in the second essay.
Resuming at 195 for two in 48 overs, they negated the 283-run first innings lead with consummate ease, and declared their second innings closed at 431 for 7 in 90 overs, after opener Angkrish Raghuvanshi, unbeaten on 88 overnight, went on to score a superb
double hundred and middle order batsman Digvijay Patil scoring a composed century.
Raghuvanshi, who added 149 runs for the opening wicket with Ayush Jethwa (58), added another 249 runs for the third wicket with
Patil in 45 overs. Once Patil departed after scoring 106 (138 balls, 8x4) and Raghuvanshi (203, 281 balls, 16 fours, four sixers),
following suit, ROI lost their way, sliding from 399 for two in 82.1 overs, to 430 for seven in 89.5 overs, before declaring one ball
later.
Leftarm spinner Vignesh Panneerselvam claimed five wickets, while another left arm tweaker Sachin Rathi added two more to his
six-for in the first innings, to return with a match haul of eight wickets.
Set a target of 148 in 46 overs, Tamil Nadu crossed the line in 34.5 overs, scoring at a brisk pace and finished at 150 for four. First innings centurions openers S.R.Athish (29, 39 balls, 3x4) and Madhava Prasad (42, 44 balls 7x4, 1x6) gave a rousing start adding
72 for the first wicket in 12.5 overs. Notwithstanding the loss of quick wickets, the 5th wicket pairof skipper Andre Siddarth (27 not
out, 32 balls 3x4) and Mohammed Ali (18, not out, 2x4) ensured that there were no further alarm bells, as the home team overhauled
the target with 11 overs to space, without much ado.
Leftarm spinner Emanjot Singh Chahal, who triggered the home's collapse with a seven wicket haul as TN collapsed from 417 for two
