Sultan Warriors Baramulla lift inaugural Chinar Premier League title

Srinagar, Sept 15 (UNI) Sultan Warriors Baramulla clinched the inaugural Chinar Premier League (CPL) Cricket Tournament 2026, defeating Ramzii Sports Srinagar in the grand finale at Gen Bipin Rawat Stadium, Baramulla.
Batting first, Sultan Warriors posted 182 for nine in their allotted overs before dismissing Ramzii Sports Srinagar for 142, securing the title with a convincing victory.
Aaqib Khanday of Sultan Warriors was adjudged Man of the Match for his match-winning performance, while teammate Asim Bashir was named Man of the Series for his consistent contribution throughout the tournament.
The tournament, organised by the Army’s Srinagar Chinar Corps, witnessed record participation, with 130 teams registering for the competition. Of these, 79 teams were selected from different parts of the Kashmir Valley.
The ceremony was graced by J&K Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, and the General Officer Commanding, Baramulla based Dagger Division alongside distinguished guests from the local community.
The organisers said CPL 2026 celebrated cricketing talent from across Kashmir Valley and served as a platform for strengthening the bond between the Indian Army and the local community, specially youth.
The successful conduct of CPL 2026 marked a significant milestone in the region's sporting calendar, providing a platform for talented young cricketers from across the Valley to showcase their skills, defence spokesman said.
