Arshdeep races into T20I record books, becomes fastest pacer to 150 wickets

Auckland, Oct 30 (UNI) India's Arshdeep Singh is making wickets fall at a remarkable pace. The left-arm pacer has not only become the fastest fast bowler to reach 150 wickets in T20 Internationals but has also set a new benchmark for the most wickets taken by a bowler from a Full Member nation in a calendar year.
Arshdeep needed just 2,143 deliveries to reach the 150-wicket landmark, putting him ahead of every fast bowler who has achieved the feat. Bangladesh's Mustafizur Rahman previously held the record, having taken 2,532 balls.
Only Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga (2,035 balls) and Afghanistan's Rashid Khan (2,098 balls) have reached the milestone in fewer deliveries, placing Arshdeep third overall among bowlers.
What makes the achievement even more striking is the speed with which he has built his wicket tally. Arshdeep took just 1,577 days from his T20I debut to reach 150 wickets, breaking Hasaranga's previous record of 2,325 days to become the quickest bowler to the landmark in terms of elapsed time.
The Indian pacer has another reason to celebrate. With 40 T20I wickets in 2026, he has become the highest wicket-taker in a calendar year among players from Full Member nations.
He has moved past Ireland's Josh Little, who claimed 39 wickets in 2022. Hasaranga took 38 in 2024, while India's Bhuvneshwar Kumar finished with 37 in 2022.
From breaking the long-standing pace-bowling benchmark to setting a new annual record, Arshdeep's double milestone highlights his growing stature as one of India's most dependable weapons in T20 cricket.
