Hong Kong Sixes: India suffer batting collapse in four-wicket loss to Pakistan

New Delhi, Oct 30 (UNI) India suffered a four-wicket defeat against Pakistan in their Group C
clash at the Hong Kong International Sixes in Kowloon on Friday after their batters failed to put
up a competitive total.

Asked to bat first, India managed 88 for five in their allotted six overs, with Shashank Singh providing the bulk of the runs through a quickfire 40 off just 11 balls.

In response, Pakistan made short work of the target, reaching 91 for two in just 3.5 overs to register
a convincing win. Openers Khawaja Nafay and Abbas Afridi set up the chase with a blistering 59-run partnership off just 13 balls.

Nafay smashed 41 off 12 deliveries, while Afridi scored 35 off only eight balls. Afridi's assault on Krunal Pandya in the opening over proved decisive, as he sent the Indian bowler for five sixes to swing the contest firmly in Pakistan's favour. Abdul Samad and Irfan Khan then saw Pakistan home without further trouble.
Earlier, India struggled to find momentum with the bat. Openers Rahul Tripathi (9) and Nitish Rana (19) failed to provide a strong start, while captain Pandya and Rahul Tewatia could not make significant contributions. Shashank’s late assault helped India reach 88, but it was still the lowest total of the day in the tournament.

The victory lifted Pakistan to the top of Group C after they had narrowly lost their opening match against the UAE by one wicket earlier in the day. India, meanwhile, slipped to the bottom of the group standings.

India will now face the UAE on Saturday in their second and final group match, with a place in the semi-finals at stake. Only the group winners will progress to the last four, while the tournament final is scheduled for Sunday.
