Swiatek recalls teary Nadal's 2021 French Open loss

Paris, May 27 (UNI) World No. 1 Iga Swiatek on Tuesday opened up on a deeply emotional moment she experienced following Rafael Nadal’s defeat to Novak Djokovic in the semifinals of the 2021 French Open, revealing she was left in tears while the Spanish legend remained composed.
Speaking in Paris, where she attended Nadal’s farewell ceremony at Roland Garros alongside tennis greats Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray, the Polish star recounted her poignant memory of meeting Nadal the day after his loss.
"In 2021 when he lost against Novak in the semis and everybody was staying at the same hotel — the Novotel — I remember, I was devastated that he lost," Swiatek said.
