Woman crushed under container truck while crossing road

Ahilyanagar, May 24 (UNI) A pedestrian died after being crushed under a container truck at Puntamba Phata on the Nagar-Manmad Highway near the city Kopargaon of the district on Saturday.
According to police, the deceased woman was identified as Ruksana Hasan Bagwan (69).
A container truck was going from Vaijapur towards Zagade Phata. When the container was near Puntamba Phata, a pedestrian, Ruksana Bagwan of Kopargaon, was crossing the road.
The container crushed Ruksana Bagwan. As soon as the Kopargaon city police received information about the incident, police personnel reached the spot and the woman was sent to a rural hospital where she was declared dead by medical officials.

Meanwhile, locals thrashed the container driver, saying he was drunk, and later handed him over to the police.
Kopargaon city police is conducting further investigation. A case has been registered against the container driver.
