Veteran actor Mushtaq dies at 56

Mumbai, Sep 24 (UNI) Veteran Hindi film and television actor Mushtaq Khan, best known for his memorable supporting and comic roles, died on Thursday at the age of 56 while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mumbai.
Khan, who had been battling cancer, was admitted to Nanavati Hospital after his health deteriorated and was reportedly undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.
Khan began his acting career in the 1980s with a small role in the 1980 film 'Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hai'.
He went on to appear in several Hindi films, gaining recognition for his performances in 'Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin' (1991) and 'Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke' (1993).
Over a career spanning more than three decades, Khan appeared in films including 'Welcome', 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha', 'Gadar 2', 'Stree 2', 'Krantiveer', 'Aashiqui', 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi', 'Hera Pheri' and 'Rowdy Rathore'.
He also worked extensively in television and featured in shows such as 'Wagle Ki Duniya', 'Bharat Ek Khoj' and 'Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi'.
One of Khan’s most popular performances came in the 2007 comedy film 'Welcome', in which he played Ballu, a member of Uday Shetty’s gang.
Khan’s death has been mourned by colleagues and fans, marking the loss of a familiar face of Hindi cinema who remained active across films and television for several decades.
