Maha cabinet decisions: Drought panel, metro land pacts among five key approvals

Mumbai, Sep 22 (UNI) The Maharashtra cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Tuesday that the State government has introduced immediate drought-relief measures by establishing a cabinet sub-committee to monitor the drought situation on a weekly basis while fast-tracking critical infrastructure and urban renewal projects across the state.
The state government has also ratified five crucial resolutions at the cabinet meeting aimed at accelerating administrative relief, safeguarding farmers' interests, and expediting urban development.
To tackle severe agricultural stress caused by deficient rainfall, the government has established a cabinet sub-committee headed by Revenue Minister Chandrakant Bawankule. Ministers will visit crisis-hit areas (agricultural land) to accelerate relief distribution directly to affected farming households.
The Maharashtra Cabinet has approved the allotment of developed plots on an ownership basis to project-affected farmers from Mogharpada in Thane, whose lands were acquired for urban transit expansion. The Urban Development Department cleared a rehabilitation package for farmers from Mouje Mogharpada (Survey No. 30) . People who surrendered land for the integrated car-shed depot of Mumbai Metro Lines 4, 4A, and 10, will be granted ownership rights over developed plots, receiving 22.5% and 12.5% allotments respectively.
The Housing Department sanctioned a cluster (group) redevelopment scheme for aging and dilapidated MHADA residential buildings located in Ramkrishna Nagar, Khar (West), thus replacing crumbling structures with modern, high-quality residential infrastructure.
The cabinet approved an amendment to the Dhule city development plan. The reservation on a designated playground and garden at Survey No. 103 in Deopur (within the Dhule Municipal Corporation limits) has been officially rescinded and reallocated to the public-semi-public zone.
The cabinet has scrapped the proposed revised staffing pattern (Akrutibandh) for the Agriculture Department, temporarily reverting to the 2009-approved framework. A comprehensive blueprint will be drafted later following a holistic review of administrative requirements, staffing vacancies, human resources, and the expansion of farmer-centric welfare schemes.

Protesters detained outside IIT Bombay over student suicide

Mumbai, Sept 22 (UNI) Police on Tuesday detained dozens of activists belonging to the RPI A and Bharat Mukti Morcha after they staged a protest outside the main gate of IIT Bombay over the alleged death by suicide of 22-year-old student Sahil Wakode, an official said. This was the second day of protests with Youth Congress activists staging a demonstration near the campus gate on Monday.

Maha: FDA seizes 5,385 kg of Mawa worth Rs 16 52 lakh in Dhule ahead of Ganesh Festival

Mumbai, Sep 22 (UNI) BJP Maharashtra chief spokesperson Navnath Ban on Tuesday alleged that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government had collected Rs 90,000 crore during its two-and-a-half-year tenure during the COVID-19 period, and challenged Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut to announce that Rs 40,000 crore from the amount would be given to drought-affected farmers in Marathwada and Vidarbha.
